Meiden has been a pioneer in vacuum interrupter (VI) technology since the mid-1960s, and has delivered many breakthroughs, including the world’s first high voltage VI. Today, Meiden manufactures VIs ranging from 3.3kV to 145kV, for a wide variety of applications. Meiden VIs are available at voltages of up to 145kV (single-break). Meiden America Switchgear is a subsidiary of Meidensha Corporation. Meidensha has been producing 72.5 kV dry-air insulated vacuum circuit breakers since 2004 and has been producing vacuum interrupter bottles since 1967. Meidensha corporation was founded in 1897.
Applications and Solutions
High and Medium Voltage VIs for Switchgear.
Special contact materials and electrode designs prevent contacts from fusing. Standard products meet IEC and IEEE (ANSI) standards and are compact with high withstand voltage and heavy current breaking capabilities. Optional external insulation reinforcement is available for interrupters rated 24 kV and higher and for capacitor bank switching applications.
Specialized VIs for Electric Railway Switching
These low voltage vacuum interrupters are engineered with custom bellows to ensure high performance. Meiden’s low-voltage VIs for railway applications are capable of at least 250,000 switching operations, and can handle current up to 1300A to meet the performance demands of high-speed railway operations.
